In 1890, schoolteacher Mary File. Bennett Launched the Bennett School for ladies while in the village. The varsity presented a six-year program of review: 4 years of highschool and two of bigger research. In 1907 it moved to Millbrook in Dutchess County, and dropped the high school grades, becoming a junior school; the school was renamed to Bennett
